After You Move In

After You Move In Most Designers Finish At Installation. The House Keeps Going.

The day the last piece arrives is not the day a home is finished. It is the day it starts being lived in, which is when you find out what actually works.

Nuance stays. Year One of Estate Wellness Stewardship is included with every Legacy Estate engagement, at the same scope as any year that follows. We come back at ninety days, we come back annually, and the record of your home stays current rather than freezing on the day we handed it over.

The First Ninety Days The Fine-Tuning Only Possible Once You Live There

A concert hall is tuned after it is built, once you can hear how it actually behaves. A residence is the same. We install and style the home, resolve the punch list, and walk your household team through how each space is maintained. Then we step back and let you live in it.

Ninety days later we return. The house has been through a season of real use. By then you know what you reach for first in the morning, how you gather in the evenings, which pieces everyone has claimed, and what your staff are asking about most. We tune to that:

  • Lighting scenes adjusted to the hours you actually keep
  • Furniture refined by a few inches where needed, so conversation, views, and comfort feel effortless
  • Window treatments and controls set to how you use privacy and light
  • Care routines simplified with the people maintaining them, so your team knows exactly what to use, how, and how often

The Design & Care Portfolio is then finalized to match the house as you are living in it. The design was right. This is the part that makes it yours.

One Residence, Reviewed Every Year Estate Wellness Stewardship

Year One is included with every Legacy Estate engagement, with the retainer waived. Renewals run annually from year two at the same scope. A family can hold Stewardship on any home, for as long as they like.

Each year includes:

  • A Design & Care Portfolio kept current as things are repaired, replaced, and changed
  • An on-site wellness review of up to two days, looking at how key spaces are working for sleep, focus, recovery, family life, and daily operations
  • A written Annual Estate Report with priorities for the year ahead
  • A Future Projects Outlook looking up to five years out
  • An Estate Council with principals, family office, and estate manager to agree what happens next
  • Two written briefings on current wellness research, with observations specific to your home
  • Fifteen hours of remote advisory for design and wellness decisions, document reviews, and vendor vetting

The Upgrade For Two Or More Homes Estate Portfolio Governance

Begin with Stewardship for any residence. When your family is caring for two or more, upgrade to Governance, which replaces the individual retainers rather than sitting on top of them. A family never holds both on the same home.

Every residence keeps its own care: Portfolio updates, an annual on-site review, and its own Annual Estate Report.

What Governance adds is the layer above them:

  • One Family Estates Council across all homes, instead of a meeting per house
  • A maintained standard for materials, light, acoustics, wellness, and documentation, so your staff and advisors work from one reference
  • An annually updated seven-to-ten-year sequence of anticipated projects across every residence, coordinated so renovations are not landing on top of each other and aligned with the family’s capital, relocation, and generational planning
  • Up to two remote life event reviews a year, when something changes what the homes need to do
  • Advisory hours pooled across the portfolio rather than locked to one house
  • Priority scheduling for new design work on any residence under Governance

Joining. Any residence can join. Homes we designed already have a Design & Care Portfolio. For homes designed by others, a qualified documentation specialist prepares it, engaged and paid for directly by the family, and we are glad to recommend specialists we trust. A home can join before that work is finished, with every Governance service applying from day one and Portfolio updates for that residence beginning once its documentation is accepted.

Upgrading. Families can move into Governance at any time, and any unused prepaid Stewardship is credited toward the first Governance year.

Scope What Stewardship And Governance Are Not

Both are advisory. Nuance does not replace your estate manager, chief of staff, family office, or household staff, and does not manage staff, vendors, maintenance, scheduling, or household operations. New construction, major renovation design, and full room redesigns are scoped separately under a new Legacy Estate agreement.

Get Started How To Begin

If you are planning or building a major home, or overseeing a portfolio of estates for a family, the next step is a Private‑Client Discovery Call. On that call, we will clarify goals and scope, understand your properties and your team, and determine whether a Legacy Estate, Legacy Portfolio, or Family Office Design Stewardship engagement is the best fit.

From there, we move to a detailed proposal and Letter of Agreement, confirm Design Start, and begin the work of turning your next house into a calm, wellness‑centered legacy estate that serves your family for generations.
