Consumer Health Data Privacy Notice
Effective date: [SET AT LAUNCH] · Version 1.0
Nuance Interior Design designs residences around how a household actually lives. Some of what we ask in our design discovery touches on health and wellbeing. We treat that information with care and maintain your privacy. This notice explains what we collect, why, who sees it, how long we keep it, and how to reach us to exercise your rights.
The information we collect
Through our design discovery, and in conversation during a project, we may collect:
- Sleep conditions and what supports rest — darkness, quiet, temperature, morning light
- Sensitivities to light, sound, scent, materials, or allergens
- Mobility, accessibility, and aging-in-place requirements for members of the household
- Caregiving arrangements within the family, including multi-generational living
- Fitness, recovery, and wellness spaces the household uses
- Priorities regarding indoor air quality, water quality, and low-toxin materials
- Related lifestyle detail — daily routines, hosting patterns, and how the household works
We do not collect diagnoses, medical records, prescriptions, biometric data, or genetic data, and we ask clients not to provide them.
Where it comes from
Directly from you, through the discovery questionnaire, conversations, and correspondence. Where a family office, estate manager, or owner’s representative supports a project, they may provide operational detail about the residence. Health-related answers are collected only from the individual they concern.
Why we collect it
For one purpose: designing, documenting, and caring for your residence. Specifically, to plan spaces and adjacencies, to select materials, lighting, acoustics, air and water systems, and furnishings, and to prepare the design documentation your project team needs.
We do not sell this information. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not use it to build profiles for any purpose other than your own project.
Who it is shared with
Only the people building and operating your home, and only the portion each needs:
- Your architect, builder, and their consultants
- Your family office, estate manager, or owner’s representative, where they are engaged
- Nuance employees and contracted design staff working on your project
- Service providers who host or process our records under contract. Our hosting and transcription are provided by Google Cloud, on servers in the United States. Providers may use the information only to deliver those services to us, and may not use it to train any public system.
Sharing requires your separate consent, given at the start of discovery. We share nothing beyond what the work requires, and we do not disclose your information to anyone else unless the law compels it.
Voice recordings
Some discovery questions may be answered by speaking. Recordings are transcribed by our contracted transcription provider, stored with your project record, and never used to train any public system. Answering by voice is optional; every question can be typed instead.
How long we keep it
Design records for an estate are meant to last. We retain your discovery record — your answers, your design preferences, and the profile built from them — for the life of our relationship and indefinitely afterward, so that it can inform this residence and any future work for your family. Roughly a year after a project closes, a copy moves into your permanent estate archive.
You may ask us to delete your information at any time, and we will do so. Two limits we want to state plainly: we may keep what the law requires us to keep or what we need to resolve a dispute, and information already provided to your architect, builder, or estate team to build the home sits in their records under their own policies. We will tell you what was shared and with whom, and we cannot delete their copies on your behalf.
Where it is stored
On servers located in the United States, operated by Google Cloud under contract with Nuance. For principals located in the United Kingdom or European Economic Area, transfers rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual protections.
Your rights
You may at any time:
- Ask what health-related information we hold about you, and receive a copy
- Correct anything that is inaccurate
- Withdraw your consent to collection or to sharing
- Ask us to delete your information
- Ask us not to share it further
Withdrawing consent does not undo work already completed, and it may limit our ability to continue the design. We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.
How quickly we respond
We acknowledge your request within five business days and respond substantively within thirty days. If a request is unusually complex we may extend that period once, and we will tell you in writing before we do. There is no charge for a reasonable request.
