Originally, the city of Snoqualmie, WA was a farming community after settlers first arrived. However, it wasn’t long before residents began looking for other types of work. Logging and millwork quickly replaced farming, and this remained the most popular source of income for many residents until just recently.
Today, many residents move to the city to enjoy the simple life, but they commute to the larger cities during the day for work. Its proximity to Seattle and other big cities in the state draws in new residents. Even though the population continues to rise at a steady rate, the town still only houses about 13,500 residents.
The median income for residents of Snoqualmie, WA is more than double that of other areas in the state. Almost all the adults have earned a high school diploma, and more than half also have a bachelor’s degree. Nearly 80 percent of the population is married.
Most workers commute about half an hour to work. Many people find employment in the tech and manufacturing industries. Many nearby public schools serve local children, making this an ideal location to settle down and raise a family.
Although Snoqualmie, WA is a very small town, there is still a lot to see and do. One of the biggest attractions in the area is the Northwest Railway Museum. This museum features exhibits about the steam locomotive and the history of the railway. It was originally built in 1890.
Another attraction is the Snoqualmie Casino. Visitors can enjoy a wide range of popular table games and slot machines. With over 170,000 square feet of space, including multiple restaurants and bars, there is plenty to do inside the casino. Snoqualmie Falls is another place where people go to relax. This is a breathtaking 268-foot waterfall. It’s estimated that over 1.5 million tourists visit the falls each year.
